In briquetting production, choosing the right binder is not only about forming briquettes. It directly affects briquette strength, moisture control, production efficiency, and overall operating costs.

Recently, Jianjie worked with a customer who was struggling with an issue that many steel plants and briquetting producers face: how to reduce water content without sacrificing briquette strength.

Check the video below for a quick review of this test:

課題

The customer had been using water glass (sodium silicate) as their binder. While it could produce briquettes, it contains 10-12% water naturally, which was too much for clients’ standard.

The customer needed a binder solution that could maintain high briquette strength while using significantly less water.

After learning about Jianjie’s customized binder technology, they contacted our technical team for assistance.

Working Together to Find the Best Solution

Because every raw material behaves differently during briquetting, selecting the right binder requires practical testing rather than guesswork.

To ensure the most accurate evaluation, the customer brought their raw materials to China and Jianjie engineers assisted them in conducting the test step by step

Our engineers worked side by side with the customer throughout the entire testing process, including:

  • 原材料分析
  • Binder adjustment
  • Briquetting trials
  • Strength testing
  • Continuous optimization based on test results

Instead of simply recommending a standard product, we customized the binder formulation according to the customer’s raw materials and production requirements.

The Results

After several rounds of testing and optimization, the final solution achieved excellent performance.

The customer successfully achieved:

  • Cold Compressive Strength (CCS) over 5000 N
  • Very low fines generation during briquetting
  • Lower water content than their previous water glass solution
  • More stable briquette quality and smoother production

The improved binder not only strengthened the briquettes but also reduced the amount of water required during production, helping the customer move closer to their production targets.

Why Customized Binder Solutions Matter

Many briquetting producers focus only on binder price or dosage.

In reality, binder performance should be evaluated based on the entire production process, including:

  • Briquette strength
  • Moisture requirement
  • Fines generation
  • Production stability
  • Overall production cost

A binder that performs well in one plant may not be suitable for another because raw materials, particle size distribution, moisture, and production conditions vary significantly.

That is why Jianjie emphasizes customized binder development combined with technical testing, rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution.

More Than a Binder Supplier

Jianjie, we believe successful briquetting projects require more than just supplying a product.

Our engineers work closely with customers to understand their production challenges, test different solutions, and optimize binder performance until the desired results are achieved.

Whether the goal is to improve briquette strength, reduce fines, lower moisture content, or increase production stability, we provide both customized binder solutions and technical support throughout the process.
